ST. CLAIR FATALITY.
TO THE CCirnu, Sir,—Yet another fatality to record at St. Clair, and' I ask why. and think I can safely answer that question by saying through someone who did not know the danger, but thought he did, of the treacherous nature of the waves. As one who has had experience in them (not always from choice, but sometimes felt ’it his duty to try and save life, when the cry for help went up), and knowing the varying moods of the ocean and the danger incidental to playing with them, as is too often done, 1 think I may claim to have my say on this matter. It is all very well having danger zones, but why does not the City Council enact a by-law making it prohibitory for anyone attempting tn go outside those zones, anyone attempting to do so to be liable to a penalty of £2(5? I think that were this done we would have less bathing fatalities to record.—l am, etc., Be Warned, February 1.
