Mrs Howard Jackson returned to Dunedin on Saturday, having spent some months in tho .North Island.

Mr and Mrs M. Ilishon, Centre Bush, arc spending a holiday in Dunedin, and are staying with Mrs Allan Young, Musselburgh.

Miss M. Burn, of Auckland, is at present visiting Dunedin, and is the guest of Mrs Al. Donelly, Tennyson street.

Mr and Mrs Ernest Drake returned to Dunedin on Saturday.

Miss Coltcrill has returned to Christchurch after a holiday visit to Mrs Rattrav.

Mrs Checscman was hostess at a pleasant two-tahle bridge party for Mrs Falla and Mrs Flurry.

Last week Mrs Watson Lee gave an enjoyable party at her home in St. Clair, when her guests included Mrs W. J. Carr, Mrs Brabant, Mrs Siedcberg, Mrs G. Tapley, Mrs Saunders, Mrs Watson, Mrs Milne, and Mrs Stephenson.

Miss Kathleen Miller, accompanied by her mother, left this morning (Wednesday) on her tour of Australia.

Culuiubii College has reason to he pleased with its examination results for 1927, and now that the lists are all published one finds that three pupils obtained senior national _ scholarships, eleven passed matriculation, and the fourteen who entered for the Associated Board of Music for piano, violin, or singing all were successful, one obtaining distinction and three honorable mention.

All’s Stock was hostess at a must enjoyable party on Saturday morning at tiie Tudor Hall. Airs H. S. Fenwick, who is just off to England, was the chief guest, and others present were Airs Edmond, Airs Finch, Mrs ActonAdams, Airs Ramsay, Airs Callaway, Airs Cheeseraan, Mrs Bryan Haggitt, Airs Falla, and Airs Clarry.

Airs G. W. Kidd returned from a short holiday at Warrington on Saturday morning, and left again on Alonclny for the Franz Josef Glacier.

. Professor and Airs White the other day invited a few friends to meet Air and Mrs W. Gray, of Melbourne, and Aliss Alary Campbell, of the Conservatorium of Music,'Melbourne. Air Gray is the principal of the Ladies’ Presbyterian College, which numbers about 800 pupils, and as he was at one time assistant to Professor White here it was pleasant to renew’ old friendships. Other guests included Professor and Airs Lawson, Dr and Mrs Elder, Mrs G. Coats (of Auckland), Airs E. Shand, Air and Airs D. R. White, and Air Renfrew White.

Air and Airs W. Gray and Aliss Mary Campbell left on Monday for Melbourne.

Six ladies from New Zealand have been chosen as delegates to the Women’s Pan-Pacific Conference, to he held in a few’ months’ time at Honolulu. These arc Alrs Fraer, of Christchurch, dominion president of the New Zealand National Council of Women; Mrs Denton Leech, representing the League of Nations; Airs T. K. Sidey, dominion president of the New Zealand Kindergarten Association; Mrs Taylor, of Christchurch, dominion president of the W.C.T.U.; Dr Mildred Taylor, of Auckland; Dr Emily Siedeborc, Dunedin president of the Women’s Alcclical Association.

Aliss Isohel Wilford, the clever Wellington girl, has made the most of her chance on the London stage, and promises to remain one ol its successes. Aliss Bankhead was playing lead in ‘The Garden of Eden,’ when illness gave her understudy, Miss Wilford, an unusual onnortnnity to make good, and now this young acr.ress is ’ inundated with bouquets and congratulations. One floral tribute measured 6ft in diameter, and, being too large to be handed over the footlights, was carried from the wings by two’ hefty men! This posy of rare” orchids and other hothouse flowers was the gift of New Zealanders >n London, and cast over £100!

The devotees of the sport of kings were favored last week with good weather. when the Forbury Park Trotting Club held its Summer Alceting. Modern feminine dress makes a bright splash of color at those affairs—provided the sun shines, of course—and on this occasion almost every “art” tone was to be seen, with happy results. Black silk coats were plentiful, and often very handsome. Among those present were Airs Irwin, whose husband is the president, and her sister. Aliss Cornish; the Alesdames Black. A. There was a glorious reunion in New A’ork City on November 8 to celebrate the woman suffrage victory in New’ A'ork State just ten years ago. The eighty guests, limited to those who had some officinl connection wit hhe suffrage campaign, recalled he excitement of election day in 1917, when a yellow light flashed over Broadway telling the women that the sixly-nine-year campaign for equal suffrage in New’ York State had been won. There were memories of “ tears and laughter, wooden rattles, festive cakes, speeches and pledges.”
