M. PAINLEVE
M. Painleve (French Minister of War) sent a letter to the British War Office, in which he says: “Accept the profound sympathy of myself and the Flench army. Lord Haig was as popular in Franco as he was in England. Our army offers homage in recognition of the groat qualities that he showed in a glorious mission, and realises the part that he played in the common victory.”
