Admiral Bueret, chief construction officer of the navy, informed the House Naval Committee that an increase of approximately 20,000 enlisted men and 825 officers will be necessary to man the eight cruisers now under construction and the twenty-five cruisers eontempalted in the five-year programme. He said that the eight cruisers now under construction will cost approximately 16,500,000 do! each. PROPAGANDA FOR WOMEN VOTERS. WASHINGTON, January 28. An educational programme designed to win support for the Naval Construction Bill now- before Congress is to'be adopted for nationwide distribution among women voters at the Women’s Patriotic Conference on National Defence, to be held here on February 1, when twenty women’s- patriotic societies will he represented.
