BOYS' MATCHES JUNIORS SAVE GAME. In the junior boy’s niatch betweeil Otago and Canterbury the former, being 317 runs behind, setting themselves, to play for a draw and so retain the shield, succeeded in achieving their object, staying at the wickets for just on four hours and losing eight for 149. Lawson played a really good, patient innings for 35. Eckhoff 24, Smith 18 not out, Hercus 17, Thomson 12, also reached double figures, together with extras (39). Loverett, for Canterbury, took three for 38, five other bowlers getting one wicket each.
