HARBOR COLLUSION
INDUES! ON GREYCLIFFE VICTIMS CORONER'S STRICTURES Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, January 28. (Received January 28, at noon.) Tho Greveliffe inquest was continued yesterday. The coroner adversely criticised the Union Company for allowing tho Tahiti to proceed to sea so soon after the collision. Mr Hughes (manager) said the company was subject to a penalty if the Tahiti was late in leaving for New Zealand with the American mails. Tho Tahiti was not damaged, and nothing further in the way of rescue work could have been done. She .had 200 passengers on hoard, and there was nothing to prevent her proceeding on her voyage. The Coroner said there were many people on board the Tahiti who might have given material evidence. While the police were busily occupied in saving lives and recovering the bodies, the Tahiti left the harbor without giving tho police a reasonable chance to interview those who might have proved material witnesses in the interests of justice.
