Mr A. J. Baker, of the headquarters staff, Public Works Department, who had been on a duty visit to Dunedin, left this morning for Wellington. Mr and Mrs W. Paget Gale returned to Dunedin to-day Irom their holiday at Timaru and Christchurch. At a meeting of the Macandrew Road School Committee appreciative reference was made to the work of Mr J. P. Burt during the ten years he had been a, member. Mr Burt filled the office of treasurer for nine years] and is now chairman. He is removing to Oamaru, and as a mark of esteem the members presented him with a Leovve pipe. . , , The death occurred last night, at Wellington, at the age of seventy-two years, of Dean Peter Regnault, procurator of the Marist Order of Australasia, who had been ill for four months. He was bom in Brittany, and came to New Zealand in 1886 for seven years. Ho was one of the most eminent Catholic churchmen in Australia. He was responsible for building many churches in New Zealand, and did good work in connection with the lepers of Makogai Island. He was stationed at Waimate for twenty years, aitenvards at Christchurch and Wellington. Dr Kelly, editor of the ‘Tablet,’ left Dunedin this morning to attend the funeral. A cable message from Suva states that the Aorangi sailed on Thursday evening for Auckland. The passengers include Mr Heinz and Mr Morris, the car manufacturer. The name of ?avacs Lawrence Wright was omitted last night from tho list of those obtaining junior free places at a secondary school. New visitors to the Grand include Mr R.
