MELBOURNE, January 27. (Received January 27, at 10.45 a.m.)
Figures issued by the Trades Hall Research and Information Bureau show that with the exception of Melbourne and Adelaide there will be increases in all states. In Melbourne, the new rate, operating from February 1, will ho £4 9s 6d, a decrease of 6d,or a daily rate of 14s dd. In Adelaide the rate will be £4 7s, a decrease of Is. In Sydney there will be an increase of ■2s 6d, making the new rate £4 13s weekly. There will be an increase of Is in Brisbane, making £4 Os 6d; an increase of 6d in Perth, which makes the’ new rate £4; and Is in Hobart, which makes it £4, 4s.
The average for thirty towns in Axisfcralia gives a wage of £4 8s weekly, or an ••increase of Is, while for the six capital cities the wage is £4, 9s, an increase of Is. These rates apply to all awards under the Federal Arbitration Court.
