INVERCARGILL WOOL SALES
A BUOYANT MARKET RECORD PRICE FOR ONE LOT [Per United Press Association.] INVERCARGILL, January 27. A lull and representative bunch of buyers assembled for the first wool sale of‘the 1928 season, held to-day in the Municipal Theatre. The sale was buoyant throughout, and the prices realised were very satisfactory to vendors. The wool opened up in light but clean condition.
At noon about one-third of the total offering had been disposed of, with only one small lot passed in at auction. The prices were appreciably higher than those' paid at the recent Wanganui sale, whilst the record price for the dominion for this season was secured for a line of half-bred ewes, which made 27d. Medium cross-bred made from lod to 18d; fine cross-bred from 18d to 20d; half-bred, 20d to 2nd (super lots 27d); hoggets—medium 15d to 17d, fine 18d to 20d, half-bred to 22^d.
