KIRK-WINDEYER CUP. [Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON„ January 26. The Kirk-Windeyer Cup golf tourney, known as the Kirk Tournament, commenced on Miramar Links to-day in delightful weather. The fairways are very fast, but the greens have been well watered, and should prove steady and excellent in condition. Indeed, it should be quite possible to approach from 60yds away, remain on. There is a variable wind from a westerly direction, strong at times. The Australians taking part ship play are Lee-Brown, Nigel Smith, Sydney Jones, W. R. Dobson, W. R. Smith (all plus 1), Maschwitz, jun. (2), Maschwitz, sen. (4), P. S. Macdonald (7). Finn Stewart is playing in handicap events. Among the New Zealanders are many of the more notable players. K. D. Duncan has scratched.
