FORBURY TROTS TO-MORROW

A great day in trotting at Forbury to-morrow, the first day of the Forbury Trotting Club’s races. __ rirst event at 1 o’clock, last at 6.15. The track is just as trainers like it. Most of the southern horses have arrived and done work here. The Canterbury horses were to reach Dunedin by train at 5.15 this afternoon. A good tramway service is arranged for. No delay in getting out or in. The Band of the First Battalion, Otago Regiment, is to supply the music. -_ • Hawkesbury’s Pride, Arctotis, and Peter Fashion are talked about as likely candidates in the Vauxhall Handicap, but they will need to step out to beat Len Wood, if he starts. Desert Star, Queen’s General, High Jinks, and Locanda General are a fair quartet in the Electric, and Granite City a possible. Swiftbine may bo considered, along with Randolph and Sea Queen, for the Musselburgh Handicap, and Peter the First is reckoned a decent outsider. The Dunedin Cup promises to be a great race. Terence Dillon and Logan Park are sure to be backed, and there are hopes of Bonny Logan, whilst Dalnahine cannot be safely ignored. Don Derby, Firebrand, Bed Swithin, and Nelson M'Elwyn have claims to respect in the Southland Handicap. It is probable that John Mauritius and Trampinst will bo tavorites for the Otago Cup, and others that must not be despised are Cannonball and Elzear. Acre, Vesuvius, Tennessee’s Child, and Liberal nave friends for the King George Handicap. Lord Bingen, Diamond Child, Bob Logan, and Granite City (if reserved for this race) have chances in the flying Handicap.
