Sir Benjamin and Lady Fuller, accompanied by the Misses Fuller, leave Dunedin to-morrow for the Lakes. They join the Melbourne boat at Bluff on Monday. Sir Benjamin will return to Dunedin in six weeks’ time for the opening of tenders for the reconstruction of the Princess Theatre. Mrs John M'lndoe (Mabel Hill of the art world) returned to Dunedin last night after ten months’ residence at Tahiti. Mr R. H. Neilson, secretary of the Dunedin Art Gallery Society, is, back from Wellington. Sir Alexander Roberts had to he content with a short visit to Dunedin. He left this morning for Wellington. Mr Ernest M'Kinlay, bound for Auckland, took passage by the 11.34 train to-day. Mr H. C. Cameron, late Produce Commissioner for the Government, and now representing the English distributing firms of George, Bowles, Nicholls, and Company, went off by the through express from Dunedin to-day to embark on the Ruahine to proceed to the Old Country.

Mr M. Barnett, who has been in Dunedin on business, went back to Christchurch to-day. His brother, Mr Arthur Barnett, is to start nest month on a trio to England with his wife and family. Dr I aiwson, Dr Galway, Mr R. Donn, and Mr W. W. Bird returned to Dunedin from Stewart Island this morning, and Mr Bird (who is chief inspector of primary schools) went, on for Wellington. At the meeting of the Education Board this morning the chairman referred to the fact'that since the last meeting three teachers in the board’s service had died. These were Messrs A. 0. Buckler, G. Gardiner, • and A. Hoggans. Another old teacher who had passed away was Mr Andrew Chesney, who for years was the teacher at Owaka. It was decided to send a letter of sympathy to the relatives. Mr C. H. Simjnonds, of Napier, who has been in Dunedin in charge of the Hawke’s Bay swimming team, returned north with Miss Mavis Simmonds today. The gold medal of the New Zealand Institute of Architects for 1927 has been awarded by the Royal Institute of British Architects to Stanley W. Fearn, architect, of Wellington, for the William Booth Memorial Training College, Aro street, Wellington, which he designed, and which _ was erected in 1913.—Press Association. A cablegram from Ottawa states that a message from _ Winnipeg states that grave anxiety is felt over the serious condition of the Premier of Manitoba (Mr J. Bracken), who is suffering from intestinal trouble. An operation is suggested. Mr A. Williams and Mrs M. Moore, of Chicago, who have been revisiting Dunedin, went off by train this morning for Christchurch. A London cable states that the Hon. Alexandra Hore-Ruthyen, who has been appointed Governor of South Australia, has been created a K.C.M.G.

Bagster, Mr E. Miller (Melbourne), Mr and Mrs M'Leod Craig, Mr C. M'Leod Craig (Wellington), Mrs C. S. Meachem, Mr C. S. Winny (Christchurch), Mr R. R. Binney (Invercargill). Among the new visitors to the Excelsior Hotel are Mr A. W. Cliff (London), Mr T. Lazarus (Sydney), Mr Shiels (Brisbane), Mrs Kempton (Melbourne), Mr A. J. R. Corradine, Mr A. H. Cramp (Wellington), Mr H. Gardiner, Mr J. Gardiner, Mr and Mrs Brinkman (Christchurch), Mr A. Anderson (Timaru), Mr H. J. Delargy (Hakataramea).
