Forecast. The Dominion Meteorologist (Dr E. Kidson) supplied the following at noon to-day:—The indications are for variable and moderate breezes, chiefly northerlies, moderate to strong; expect warm and sultry conditions, there is a prospect of fair to cloudy weather, with isolated light showers; barometer little movement; tides moderate, sea moderate.

The Calm is to sail to-night for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. The Waikouaiti, now discharging Australian cargo at the Birch street wharf, is to sail to-morrow morning for Lyttelton and Timaru (to complete discharge), thence Sydney. The Kurow was to leave Bluff this afternoon for Dunedin, where she is due to-morrow. The vessel will sail the same day for Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. The Corinna was expected to leave Wellington to-day for Dunedin. She is due on Saturday to load out the same day for Nelson and New Plymouth via ports. The Opihi, from Westport, is due here to-morrow morning to unload a coal cargo. After discharge she will load early next week for Westport via Timaru. Tim tanker Otokia is due at ban Pedro on February 8 to load a cargo of fuel oil for the Union Company’s tanks at Miramar (Wellington). The Federal steamer Surrey left Wellington this morning for London via Panama.

THE FERRY SERVICE. The Wahine, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 7.5 a.m. to-day, and passengers and mails connected with the first express. PERSONAL. Captain F. Kasper has reported after holiday leave, and taken over the command of the Wilson Cement Company’s Ronaki. Mr T. W. Brinck is chief officer, Mr C. P.. Berndge chief engineer, and Mr A. C. Jamieson second engineer. Mr W. R. Robertson has signed on as chief officer of the Northern Company’s steamer Matangi, replacing Mr R. Martin. Captain S. Hewitt is in command of the Union Company’s steamer Kaimanawa, which was recommissioned at Auckland last week, and sailed for southern ports. The following are his officers: —Chief, Mr S. Gaskin; second, Mr J. Knox; third, Mr A. Mathcson; chief engineer, Mr H. Swan; second, Mr T. M‘Donald; third, Mr H. MncKay; fourth, Mr G. Davis; chief steward, Mr R. Dohrn.

PORT FREMANTLE REPORTED. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line’s motor ship Port Fremantle is reported to have reached, Ranama on Thursday, en route from New Zealand to London. She was despatched from Napier on December 30. STEAMERS FROM LIVERPOOL. The Federal Line steamer Westmoreland left Liverpool on Saturday with general merchandise from West of England ports for discharge at Auckland, Napier, Wellington, Lyttelton, _ Dunedin, and New Plymouth. • She is due at Auckland on February 28. The company’s steamer Somerset is to leave Liverpool on February 4 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on March 12. Other steamers scheduled to leave Liverpool for New Zealand are;— The New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Turakina on March 3 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. Due Auckland April 9The Tongariro, on March 17, for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. Due Auckland April 24. The Northumberland, on April 14, for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Port Chalmers. Due Auckland May 28.

STEAMER SIR DUDLEY DE CHAIR

The Adelaide Steamship Co., Ltd., has purchased the Dorman, Long steamer Sir Dudley de Chair. She is to he renamed Terka, which is a najjve name for kangaroo. Built in 1925 at Walsh Island, Newcastle, the Sir Dudley de Chair is 147 ft long by 26tt 6in in breadth and lift Bin in depth. She was specially built for Dorman, Long, and Co. for the carrying of granite from Moruya to Sydney, the granite being used in the construction of the North Shore bridge. The vessel, during last year, was chartered for a number of voyages interstate. ARAWA FROM LIVERPOOL. From Liverpool via Panama, the steamer Arawa, which arrived at Auckland on Monday with passengers, mails, and cargo, is to discharge',at Auckland, .Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, being due here ' about February 11.

PORT CAROLINE FOR LOADING

Messrs J. W. Swift and Co. advise that the Port Caroline leit Bluff ea’rTy this morning for Port Chalmers tor Homeward loading. She is due here this evening. The Port Caroline is to go to Wanganui roadstead. New Plymouth, and Wellington lor further loading, and is to finally leave Wellington on February 15 for London via Panama. THE MANCHESTER MERCHANT. The steamer Manchester Merchant, which reached Auckland on Monday from New York, has general cargo for discharge also at Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due at this port about February 5. THE MELBOURNE STEAMER. The Union Company advises that the Manuka, from Melbourne via Wellington and Lyttelton, is due here to-mor-row to land passengers and discharge general cargo. She is timed to sail the same day for Melbourne via Bluff. HUNTINGDON FOR HOME. At present laid up at Port Chalmers, the steamer Huntingdon is to load at New Zealand ports next month for Home. She is to go to Bluff, returning to Port Chalmers about the middle of February to load wool and products. She is to 'finally sail from Wellington about February 25 for London via Panama.
