SURF CHAMPIONSHIPS
STARTER'S DEPARTURE The news will bo received with regret that, on account of the illness of his wife, Mr C. Bryant (starter at the NT Zealand swimming championships) has had to return to Christchurch, and will not be able to officiate to-night. His place will probably be taken by Mr W. Jenkins, of Otago. Mr Bryant has officiated as starter
for many years, and is very popular among the swimmers, who recognise his marked ability as a starter. Ho is also a member of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association. His starting has been one of the features of the present carnival.
