Sandgate Castle, built iu the reign of Henry VIII. as part of the coastal defence scheme against the expected French invasion, is for sale. The Southern Railway, the owners, have offered to sell their interests in the castle to the Sandgate Council' for £I,OOO, but the offer has been rejected. A suggestion recently made by the Vicar of Leeds, the Rev. W. Thompson Elliot, that there should be a Social Hour after Evensong on Sundays, so that the young people who attend the Parish Church might have an opportunity of getting to know onq another, has met with sufficient response to put the idea into execution.
