Von Mumm, a member of the famous cliampagnc firm, backed by bankers, has formed a company to start greyhound racing in Germany. A stadium lias been hired, accommodating 60,000 people, in Berlin, and it is expected that the sport will spread throughout the country.—A. and N.Z. and‘Sun’ Cable. NO BETTING IN FRANCE. , SPORT FAILS' TO .AROUSE INTEREST. • PARIS, January 22. Frenchmen were introduced to greyhound racing at the Velodrome d’Hiver. There was 110 hotting, as permission to use the pari mutncl has not yet been obtained. The newspapers state that there is nothing in the'sport to arouse emotion in the Frenchmen, and the absence of any individual effort on the part of the dogs to heat their opponents robbed the races of interest.
