PROTECTION IN AMERICA PROPOSED TARIFF AMENDMENTS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright WASHINGTON, January 20. Representative Dickinson has introduced a measure amending the Forclncy M‘Cumber Tariff in order to secure the additional protection of American agricultural products. Five cents per lb would be placed on imported drysalted bides, 4 cents per 11) on wetsalted hides, 16 cents per lb on drysalted calfskins, and 10 cents per lb on wet-salted calfskins. These items are now free.
The rates on meal, fresh and prepared, would he increased from 20 per cent, to 40 per cent, ad valorem.
