Flcshep to a reporter last night, “ that wo should have a South Island Main Highways Board, because our conditions are altogether different from those in tho North island, and our roads don’t require such heavy expenditure as those in tho north.” Mr Flcsher paid a tribute to the Main Highways Board in respect of work that he assumes was done under its subsidy system, by which deviations that saved distance and better grades bad been made.
