(7.10 p.m.), 5,62/ tons, F. G. Bilton, for Wellington. Waipiata, s.s. (11.30 p.m.), 2,826 tons, Elders, for Auckland via ports. The Waipiata 'sailed last night tor Auckland via ports. The Waihemo sailed last evening lor Wellington, thence Westport to bunker before proceeding to the Pacific Coast to load.

The Kamo leaves Timaru at 5 to-day for Port Chalmers and Dunedin, and loads out on Wednesday for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. The Kurow left Auckland yesterday for Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, and Bluff. '«i Corinna leaves Wellington on Tuesday for Dunedin direct with fruit ex the Makura. She is due here on Thursday, and loads out for Timaru, Lyttelton, and New Plymouth. The Opihi sails this afternoon lor Wellington, New Plymouth, and Westport via ports. The Breeze leaves Lyttelton to-mght, and is due hero on Sunday. She is timed to sail on Monday for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. Although she has not yet reported by wireless, the tramp steamer Nile is expected to arrive at Auckland at the beginning of next week with a lull cargo of sulphur from Galveston, Texas. She will discharge the remainder at Lyttelton, New Plymouth, and Wanganui. . The Port Darwin, which sailed from Napier on November 30, arrived at London on January 5. Wool shipped by her will be included in the January sales.

With Continental cargo for Auckland, the Federal steamer Devon is reported to have cleared Antwerp on Monday. She is due at tho northern port about February 22.

THE FERRY SERVICE. The Waliine, from Wellington, arrived at Lyttelton at 6.45 a.m. to-day, and passengers and mails connected with the first express. HUNTINGDON AT PORT CHALMERS. ( From the West of United Kingdom ports, the Federal steamer Huntingdon arrived at Port Chalmers this morning after calling at north New Zealand ports. The vessel loaded at Glasgow and. Liverpool and sailed finally from the last-named port on November 12. She experienced a lino x uneventful trip across, arriving at Colon on November 28 and clearing Balboa the next day. The Huntingdon brought two thoroughbred champion Clydesdale horses from Glasgow for Mr Grant, of Christchurch. The noises arrived in good condition. Captain F. Ashworth is in command of the Huntingdon, and associated with him are the following officers:—Chiel, Mr H. E. Reilly; second, Mr C. J. Brewer; extra second, Mr H. G. Letts; third Mr H. F. The Union Steam Ship Company’s intercolonial passenger steamer Manuka is timed to leave Melbourne at 10 a.m. on Wednesday for Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff, with passengers, mails, and cargo. THE CYDONIA. The steamer Cydonia ’was duo at Auckland to-day. She has general cargo from Montreal and Sydney (Cape Breton) for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Australian ports. She should roach here about January 25. THE INDIANOLA. Bearing phosphate from Casa Blanca (Morocco) lor discharge at Auckland and Lyttelton, the steamer . indianola is reported to #avo reached Colon on Monday. She loft Casa Blanca on December 22, and is due at Auckland on February 13. MAHIA HOMEWARD BOUND. Cable advice received by the Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company states that the Mahia, on route from Pori Chalmers to London via Montevideo and Teneriffc, arrived at Punta Arenas on tho evening of January 9. Tho vessel cleared this port on the morning of December 21. DEWEY FROM PACIFIC COAST.

Cable advice received states that the American steamer Dewey, which loaded general merchandise, case oil, and lumber at Pacific Coast ports, left Los Angeles on January 7 for Auckland, Wellington, Timaru, and Dunedin. Tho vessel is due at Auckland about February 1, and at Dunedin about FcbruaTy 17'. PERSONAL. Captain F. J. Duncan is acting harkr master at Dunedin in.place of Captain J. Mac Lean, who is on annual holiday' leave. Captain C. Elders retains command of tho Waipiata, which was recommissioned at P.ort Chalmers on Thursday. Captain G. A. Grey is in command of tho Opihi, which was recommissioned ax Port Chalmers yesterday. PORT CAROLINE’S PASSENGERS. Tho C. and D. Lino steamer Port Caroline, which arrived at Lyttelton on Wednesclay morning from London, hi ought the following passengers: — Miss M. Miller, Airs L. F. Rowe, Mr E. G. D. Theobold, Mrs V. Captain Arthur Holme, commander of the White Star liner Homeric, having reached the age limit, has retired after forty-five years at sea, thirty of which have been spent in the service of tho White Star Line. He first went afloat in the wooden barque Queen of Australia, in 1882, and alter varied experience in sail joined the While Star Line as junior officer of the Tauric in 1897.
