ANNUAL CONFERENCE. The eighth annual conference of the New Zealand and Australian Chiropractors’ Association has just been con* eluded at Christchurch. There was a representative attendance, members being present from Auckland, Napier, Masterton, Palmerston North, Wellington, Christchurch, Timaru, Oamaru, Dunedin, and Gore. Mr J. A. Scott (president) occupied the chair. The report, which showed a very healthy condition in respect to membership and finance, also referred to the energetic efforts which had been made by a member of the P.almerston North Hospital Board to have chiropractic introduced into the local hospital. Mr F. J. Ryder, the member in question, had received from several other members
promises of hearty support for In's poposai, but the chairman (Sir James Wilson) intimated that he had been advised that the board had no power under the existing Act to give effect to the motion that had been tabled, so that the matter was not brought to a definite issue. The following were elected officers for the year:—President and secretary, Mr J. A. Scott; vice-president, Mr J. P. Colwill; treasurer, Mr J. M. Craig; committee—Messrs T. Giles (Auckland), A. H. Thomson (Dunedin), W. C. Lawson (Palmerston North), A. R. Mnckny (Gore), and J. Giles (Dunedin). Important amendments to the .association's co-operative insurance .scheme, in the direction of enlarging its scope, were moved by the president, and were unanimously agreed to; and the following were appointed a Chiropractic Defence Committee for the year:—Messrs J. A. Scott, J. M. Craig, T. Giles, J P. Colwill, and A. H. Thomson, it was decided that the next conference should be held ia Wellington.
