THE TASMAN FLIGHT.
TO THE EDITOK Sir,—l notice that our Government is doing its utmost to find out the whereabouts of the airmen (perhaps it is too late now). Previous to their setting off from Australia our Government stated that the airmen were to take the flight on their own responsibility. Now, if New Zealand had been America, and the airmen had iieen Americans, what would have happened? The American Government would have been out to see that every chance available was put forward for the men to complete the journey, and the airmen, knowing fully Veil that everything with regard to safety was being provided for them, would haye gone on their journey with every confidence of completing it Why is it that America has most of the world’s champions? The reason is that they coach and en courage budding champions, and that is what our Government should have done in the Australia-to-Ncw Zealand air flight.—l am, etc., ■ January 13. A. H. Johnson.
