The women inmates of both the hospital ward and the main building ot the Benevolent Institution were entertained on the Saturday belore Christmas by the Y.W.C.A. Pioneer Club at an enjovable concert and Christmas tea. Throughout the year this club regularly visited the institution each month, with the object ol' bringing a Ih-tlo added brightness and comlort to the old folk. This year a well-laden Christmas tree with appropriate gifts was an attractive feature ot the evening’s entertainment. Special thanks arc due to Mrs Bangley, who lorwardcd strawheiries and cream, bananas, and a Christmas cake. The programme, arranged hy Miss Langley, was contributed to by the Misses Penwick, Pearce, and M‘Gregor, pianoforte solos; Langlev, banjo ami mandolin solos; Dsborne,‘Keene, and Smith, reading and elocutionary items; Claister, Young, and Dawson, vocal solos; Agncw solo dances; Renwick and Langley and Mrs Stedman, instrumental trios; Mrs Trevor Stedman, violin solos. In the course of the evening Mr M'Pherson voiced the appreciation of the old folk, and on their lie ha 11, and that ol the institution, thanked the Pioneer Club for Iho admirable work of the year.
