BRITAIN AND IRAQ
TREATY REJECTED. Press Association—By Telegraph —Copyright LONDON,, January 9. (Received January 10, at noon.) The ‘ Daily Mail’s ’ Bagdad correspondent reports that the Cabinet rejected the treaty. The Prime Minister has resigned. Abdul Saadun is forming a Cabinet.—Sydney 1 Sun ’ Cable. [The proposed Aiiglo-lraq Treaty consists of sixteen articles, of which the following is a summary:—His Britannic Majesty recognises Iraq as an independent sovereign State; peace and friendship will exist between the AngloJraq Majesties; the contracting parties c igago to maintain friendly relations, each c[oing their utmost to prevent all illegal actions in their country calculated to have repercussions upon peace and order in the other country; and Britain undertakes to support Iraq’s candidature for the League in 1932, provided her present level of progress is maintained and things go well in the meantime.]
