WAIHI COMPANY. The following information regarding the Waihi mine lias been cabled to London ; No. 7 level, north branch of Martha lode, situated at 327f' north-west of No. 2 shaft. This has been driven in the west 47ft. Assay value, 20s 6d per ton. The lode is about Aft wide. No. 13 level.—Empire lode, driving west. Next 12ft assays 23s 6d per ton. At 60ft the lode is Sft wide. Assay value, 9s 3d per ton. No. 3.—The diamond drill hole i« now in 398 ft in hard andesite. WORK AT THE NEVIS. The Cromwell ‘ Argus ’ is informed that the mining industry at_ the Nevis is flourishing. The final consignment of machinery for the Upper Nevis dredge has arrived, and at an early date the machine will be able to maxe a start. The hydraulic claim of Jones and party is working with a good .supply of water, and. despite a heavy slide on one side of the paddock, is doing well, the wash carrying good prospects. Another private venture, working under the, direction of Mr A. Graham, is also r«* ported to have splendid prospects. The Keystou drill, is steadily at work, but in the first bores struck deep ground in a promising alluvial formation. Some of the bores are well over 100 ft. The Grossing dredge is also re-, ported to he having a very remunerative run, returns being far above working expenses. In fact, the ‘ Argus is informed from a reliable source that the last return was the highest won by the dredge since 1903. Other returns this season wore not far short of this I ' ■
