ANNUAL SYNOD The Otago - Southland .Methodist Synod will commence its sessions on Tuesday next in the Slade Hall; under' tho chairmanship of the Rev. H. E. Bellhouse. There is expected to bo an attendance of 30 ministers, probationers, and home missionaries, with 45 lay representatives from the various circuits within tho bounds of the district. There will be much "important business to bo dealt with in connection with tho local requirements of the district, and the development of tho church throughout the dominion. On Tuesday morning, at 9.30, the ministers will meet m committee to discuss the reports, trial sermons, examination results, etc., of tho four probationers for tho ministry, the two candidates, and the home missionaries. Tuesday night will be devoted to a synod service to be held in Trinity Church at 7.45, and to which the general public is invited. The Rev. S. Bailey, of Invercargill, will be tho preacher. On Wednesday morning, at 9.30, in tho Slade Hall, the ministers and laymen will meet in representative session, and their business will continue throughout Wednesday and Thursday. On Wednesday night tno welcome social will bo hold in Trinity Schoolroom. A very tine musical programme has been arranged, and addresses will be given. This gathering also is open to the general public, and a fine rally of Dunedin Methodists is expected to both tho service and the social.
