BOWLING
NOHTH-EAST VALLEY LADIES’ CLUB. Tbe North-east Valley Ladies’ Bowling Club opened its season yesterday, there being a mixed attendance of about 100. Mr D. M. Fastier (president) and Mr 11. Hanning (secretary of the Otago Bowling Centre) were among those present. Miss Gray, the president of the club, welcomed , the guests, and expressed the wish that the season would be a successful one. Air Fastier spoke briefly, and thanked the ladies for , the help they had given to the centre during its tournaments. Air Jonathan llhodes (president of the Alen’s Club) expressed pleasure at Aliss Gray’s election to the office of president, and paid a tribute to the good work she had done on behalf of the North-east Club. Afternoon tea was then provided by the president, and a little nephew of Aliss Gray rolled the first bowl, thus opening the Ladies’ Club season.
MORNING-TON; LADIES. Fine weather and a good attendance of lady bowlers and their friends made the opening of the ladies’ section of the Mornmgton Bowling Club a great success yesterday. Mr Osborne spoke on behalf of the Men’s Club, • wishing the ladies every success for the coming season. On declaring the season open Mrs Boatwood . (president) especially welcomed new members and visitors, and hoped that the season would prove very enjoyable. Afternoon tea was dispensed, and an enjoyable firne was spent in the pavilion.
