FISHING BY ELECTRICITY
Experiments arc now being earned out in Rhineland with a device for catching fish by electricity. The process consists of electrifying the water in a given stretch so that all tho fish are stunned and rise to the surface. They are .then collected and sorted. Pike and other enemies of more edible, and therefore more profitable, fish, arc knocked on the head, undersized fish are set aside and later returned to the stream, while all marketable fish are retained. The fish are only stunned and appear to bo none the worse for the “shock.” The process is then repeated on another stretch of water.
