NORTH-EAST HARBOR NOTES

[Fkou Ouk Corkkspondent.] The final card evening of tho season under the auspices of the local Anglican Committee was held in the hail on Tuesday evening, when another enjoyable tournament took place. The prizes were won by Mrs Budd and Mr F. Jones, the booby prizes being secured by Mrs Battray and Mr Battray after a play off for the two latter trophies. In presenting the prizes Mr Milward thanked the players for their support during the season, after which light supper was handed round, A meeting of the committee of the Swimming Club held on Tuesday evening was attended by Messrs Battray (in the chair), G. Free, B. tad.c, U. Tree (secretary), Mrs Bricked, Mrs Churchill, and Mrs Luke. The grid at the bathing pavilion having been damaged by the tide, it was decided to have the necessary repairs done as soon as possible, and also to have the necessary painting to Iho building attended to, the secretary and Mr Free being empowered to attend to the arrangements. As the bathing season is near at hand, the question of tho annual meeting was considered, and it was resolved that it be held in the hall on Wednesday, November 16. A meeting of the committee of the North-cast Harbor Boating Club was held on 'Wednesday evening, there being present tho Commodore (Mr (1, Bewley, in the chair) and Messrs H. Brown, F. Brown (secretary), Gibson, A. E. Rellyer, R. Ilellyer, J. Marett, W. M'Evoy, Battray, Bobinson, Boss. Matters in connection with the club’s official opening on Saturday afternoon next were dealt with and final arrangements made. It was reported that everything promised towards another successful function. Owing to the meeting (which had been called for tho purpose of taking steps towards tho formation of a rowing section in tho club) lapsing on account of the bad weather conditions, it was resolved that a further meeting be called for Saturday evening, November 12, to deal with the matter. In reply to tho club’s letter re tho state of the board’s landing stage on the Macandrew Bay jetty, a reply was received from tho Harbor Board stating that the work of repairing same would be put in hand ns soon as practicable. A notification was received from the association stating that it was proposed to handicap motor boats on a miles-per-hour speed instead of on horse-power, and requesting tho club’s opinion on the question It was resolved to support the proposed system of handicapping for one season at least. An intimation was also received that the club’s syllabus of races for the season had been approved. Two new members were elected. A very successful fancy-dress dance was held in the hall on Saturday evening under the auspices ol the Ratepayers’ Association, Frizes were given for the most appropriate costumes, these being secured by Miss Koa Riddell (first) and Mrs Gibson (second), and Master C. Bayertz (first) and Mr Hewitt (second). Excellent music was oupplied by the Piccaddly Orchestra. On Monday evening another successful and enjoyable dance was held under tho auspices of the association.
