"MISS NEW ZEALAND, 1927"
AT THE EMPIRE TO-MORROW To-morrow night Miss New Zealand, 1927 (Miss Dale Austen) will appear in person on the stage at the Empire Theatre, and will give the sketches that so delighted theatre patrons in the north. Miss Austen, with her maid of honor, was chosen to represent Otago at tho Miss New Zealand contest, and lias toured New Zealand, being acclaimed everywhere. At the conclusion of the voting at Auckland it was found that the Otago girl had won by an overwhelming majority. Miss Austen leaves for Hollywood to iullil a screen contract in tho course of a few weeks, and this will bo the last opportunity that Dunedin theatre-goers will have of seeing New Zealand’s favorite. An additional attraction will he the screening of Deter 15. Kyne’s novel, ‘The Understanding Heart,’ which has Joan Crawford and Koeklilfo Eellowes in the leading roles, supported by a strong cast.
