THE CONCESSION GRANTED BRITISH SYNDICATE SUCCESSFUL. (British Official News.) Press Association—By Wireless-Copyright. RUGBY, October 21. Considerable interest has been aroused by a report that a British syndicate has been granted the concession for reelaiming the mineral resources of the Dead Sea. it is, however, denied by Sir Alfred .Mond that the syndicate concerned is the chemical combine known as the Imperial Chemical industries, of which he is chairman. Sir Alfred Aloud says: “1 have regarded Hie reclamation as a highly interesting proposition. Ihe concession has been granted to a British .syndicate, at the head of which is' an engineer ■nho Ims done an immense amount of exploratory work. Negotiations lor the concession have been going on with the Colonial Office for live years, and now that some definite step has been taken I am prepared to explore the situation and form some opinion concerning its ultimate possibilities as a commercial proposition. It would be undoubtedly beneficial to the development of Palestine, partly by creating on the spot an agricultural fertiliser of importance ami by creating what would be for a small country a considerable industry. It would' call for a big expenditure on transportation, however, ns there is none at present from the Dead Sea to any port, except road transportation.”
