ST. KILDA BOROUGH

COUNCIL MEETING The fortnightly meeting of the St. Kilda Borough Council was held 'ast evening, the deputy mayor (Cr H. H. Leary) presiding. Others present were Crs F 0. Gillam, 0. Conn, G. Stratton, R. Telfer, J. Fleming, J. D. M'Curdy. Accounts amounting to £7OO 2s 9d were passed for payment. A letter was received from the Prime Minister reporting tho reception of a cablegram from the Secretary of State for Dominion 'Affairs in regard to the observance of Armistice Day, November 11, and advising that the same procedure of observance as in past years had been approved.—Received. The Secretary of “Summer Time Appreciation,” an organisation set up to consider the best channel by which tho people of tho dominion could express their approval of the passing of the Summer Time Act, and appreciation of the long and successful effort of Mr T. K. Sidcy, M.P., in handling the measure in Parliament, advised that it had been agreed that the. form of the memorial would bo considered when tho funds available had been ascertained. Ho suggested that a meeting be called in the borough of those interested in order to promote the movement in any manner the meeting might consider desirable.—The matter was left in the hands of the mayor. A letter was received from the Dunedin Drainage Board reporting that the foul sewers and storm water sewers in tho vicinity of Normanby and Princes streets had been inspected, and were found to be in perfect order.—Received. Tho Secretary of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society wrote drawing attention to the difficulties encountered in handling show stock at the loading hank in Royal crescent, and requesting that the road be closed for motor or vehicular traffic from 5 p.in. to 3 p.tn. on Tuesday, November 22, and for the sanie hours oh November 24.—1 t was decided that the request be granted. A letter was received from tho health inspector drawing attention to the state of tho convenience .in the borough.— It was decided to accept an offer for material for a new convenience.
