BURGLARS IN VICARAGE

OVERLOOKED SAFE KEYS. After ransacking. St. Paul’s Vicarage. East Moseley, in the early hours of the morning, burglars collected a bottle of whisky, a bottle of port,, and a sypiiou of soda water from the dining room, and adjourned to the kitchen, where, with a leg of lamb and some apples, they made a meal. Ihey carried away from the vicarage £2OO worth of silver articles, including a communion set which had beep given to the vicar, tho Rev. Hugh M Mullan, as a present on his ordination, and a silver cross. Taking tho keys or the church, they then crossed the road, and visited that building. .Not noticing that the safe keys were in the vestry, they attempted to open tho church safe, using a brass cross as a jemmy, but were unsuccessful. A woman neighbor saw a car containing three men. and a woman drive away from the vicinity of the vicarage at about the time the burglary was committed. The vicar told a Press representative that on the night of the burglary he felt unaccountably uneasy, and he made a special visit to the church at 11.30 p.m., but found everything all right. The telephone wire to the vicarage was cut by the burglars.
