OPPOSITION FROM BOTH CAMPS [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, October 25. Tlie Advisory Board of the Employers’ Federation was stated by the secretary to-day to bo unanimously and strongly opposed to the proposed alterations to the constitution of tho Arbitration Court, because of tho lack of suitable arbitrators, tho lack of provision for continuity of policy, and uniformity of awards, tho danger from irresponsible arbitrators, and the impossibility of the. court doing its work in the time available. ACT OF WAR OTAGO UNIONS’ RESOLUTION. At a. large meeting of delegates representative of all the unions throughout Otago, held in tho Trades Hall last evening, tho following resolution was carried unanimously:—“That this combined meeting of executive officers of Otago unions outers its united protest against tho action of the Government in its determination to amend tho Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act, as indicated by tho Bill now before Parliament, and views the Government’s action as an attack inspired by the employing class on the standard of living upon tho working class of this dominion. This meeting also warns the Government that_ its action is tantamount to an act of war on the wollaro of industrious citizens,.and il persisted in is destined to result in industrial strife, which will not only cause loss and suffering to the whole comniuuitv, hut will impair tho cfiiciency of this dominion as a competitor in the markets of the world.” The meetin" also appointed Sir J. .Robinson as it ° delegate to the Labor Conference to be held in Wellington on Friday next, and decided to recommend that he give evidence against the Arbitration°Act amendments hcioiu the Labor Bills Committee.
