7Hi3 MORNiNG'S RESULTS Though the anunal athletic meet of tlio (Jingo Boys’ High School commenced nt Carishrook this morning in threatening weather, the elements proved kind, and by noon the skies had cleared, giving prospects of a line afternoon. The tracks, however, wore on the soft side, and militated against the breaking of records, a fresh breeze also affecting the runners in the shorter distances. Nevertheless, some very fair performances were registered during the morning. In every event large-sized fields faced the starter (Mr J. P. Northoy), and in one event, the open mile handicap, there were seventy-four .starters, the race being won by W. Masters (ICOyds), who finished fast to win in 4min JSsec, time which gave the scratch man, G. To Strang, no chance. Taken all round, the times in the handicap events were quite good in view of the heavy state of the track._ Several junior and scnioi championship events wore decided, and at tin; adjournment both divisions looked to bo very open. 11. G. Jolly hold a close lead over H. L. Trotman in the competition for the senior cup, Jolly having won the 120yds hurdles against the wind in 18 4-sscc—very fast time, lie also won the long jump with 18ftG.tin, and was second in the quarter and second (dead heat) in the high jump. The 440yds wont to Trotman, who won in the good time of 56 2-sscc, and be also cleared 4ft llin in winning the high jump, a good performance in view of the state of the take-off. The junior championship is in an interesting position, A. Orange, by virtue of wins in the 100yds and the furlong, being in The lead. Credit is duo to Mr 1!. V\. S.
