The Irish Free State Government’s new Public Safety Bill, to bo introduced into' Dail Eircaun on July 26, is a most drastic measure. It provides that anyone possessing firearms without a license may bo sentenced to_ death or imprisonment for lile. Seditious publications may be suppressed, and newspapers will be forbidden to print information from any unlawful association. The civic guards are empowered to effect searches and arrest without warrant, and to detain suspected persons for a period of up to three months.
