(Received July 23, at 10.30 a.m.) Dawson and Co., in reviewing the wool sales, state that the result establishes a remarkably sound basis of ■ralues generally, strengthening the position of raw material, which has been most perplexing for the English and American manufacturers, who see little to encourage such confidence. It appears that the Continental centres are most prosperous. Germany, despite her difficult crecljt position.in recent years, seems to be very busy. There is considerable apprehension among all sections, except the wool growers, lest the-new season’s values of raw material open too high, thus retarding the chances for good business in textiles in 1928.—A. and N.Z. and ‘ Sun ’ Cable.

Coarse cross-bred; 38-41)—good to super ISJ'd to 14d. medium to good iljd to 13d. London wool sales closed active, with competition sustained; attendance generally larger and lair selection. As compared with closing rates of last senes: Scoured merino. Id to lid higher; greasy merino, id to td higher; . greasy half-bred, Id to Id higher; fine greasy cross-bred, id to Id higher; greasy cross-bred, medium and coarse, par to* Jd higher ; scoured crossbred, Id to lid higher; fine slipe, Jd to lid higher; slipes, medium and coarse. Id higher; lambs, Id to Id higher. There were 137,000 bales offered, including; Australian, 4'.),10U hales; New Zealand, 62.100; South American, 19,150; Cape, 4,100. Home trade has bought 56,90(1 bales. Continent 49,600, America 2,ooo,.carried forward 35,000, •of which 19,000 hot offered.

The New Zealand Loam and Alcrcantile Agency Company, Ltd., has received the following cable from London, dated 21st hist.:—As compared with last sale’s closing rates, prices are higher about par to 5 per cent. Jor inferior merino, greasy merino super, merino lambs, scoured merino super, fine scoured cross-bred; higher about 5 per cent, for cross-hred Jambs, greasy memo medium, coarso scoured crossbred, greasy cross-bred, coarse crossbred slipe, scoured merino medium, medium cross-bred slipe, medium scoured cross-bred; 74 per cent, higher, fine cross-bred slipe. Sales closed firmly today.
