(Received July 23, at .1 a.m.) The daily hire strike has spread to the engineering works of Briton, Ltd., AVatcrloo, where the engineers refused to resume work after being paid their first week’s wages under the daily hire system. ARBITRATION COURT ORDER. . MELBOURNE, July 22. (Received July 23, at 1 a.m.) The Arbitration Court made an order restraining the Amalgamated Engineering Union and six shop stewards at tho Sunshine Harvester Works from doing or continuing to do anything in the nature of a strike. Tho application, which was made by tho employers, arose through certain employees refusing to work with other employees, who wore contented to work forty-eight hours weekly.
