PIPE BANDS.
TO TUB EDITOE. Sir,—ls it not time that Dunedin should have, a pipe band which all tho societies could assist in some way, and which should be called, the Dunedin Scottish Pipe Baud ? There is plenty of scope for another pine band in Dunedin. Christchurch inis three, all of which competed at the last contest. Invercargill has two, so surely Dunedin could sqpport»two. There are good iqen wjio have come out recently from tho Home Country whp are champion pipers and ex-pipe majors of Highland' regiments, some of whom no doubt would ably fill the position of pipe-major, provided a local man was not available. The matter is well worth considering.I am etc., Hiohlanuek. July 21.
