DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE. Generally speaking-the market this week lias been quiet, although a fair amount of business has been recorded. The banks section has been steady, but among the insurance shares there has been a sharp advance in Nationals, which closed this week with buyers offering 765, no seller coming forward. In the shipping circle a marked improvement in the prices of P. and 0. Deferred Stock was in evidence, doubtlessly in sympathy "with the Home market i where business has been transacted up to £1292. Colonial Sugars have also improved during the week, and there are plenty of buyers at £52 10s. with no declared seller. New Zealand Drugs have finned, the quotations closing this week at 64s buyers, Cos sellers. The mining section has been quiet, with the exception that Waihis have risen considerably. The market in Government Bonds and Inscribed finished firm. A. local stockbroker states that there lias been a considerable rise during the last few days in the London metal market. ' Spot copper has gone up from £63 18s to £55 12s. Lead has advanced from £22 16s to £24 7s 6d.
