DROWNING NATALITIES. An inquest concerning the death of William Rennie, aged seventy, was held before Mr H. A. Young, „S.M., at Christchurch. The body had been found in the receiving tank at the Lyttelton Borough waterworks at Hcathcote. There was a piece of iron weighing between 501 b and tlOlb tied to it. Rennie had lived in a liut on the waterworks reserve, and in his hut was found a note giving directions for the disposal of his property, including £SB in cash. . A verdict of suicide by drowning was returned. Particulars concerning the drowning of the young man Robert Duncan O’Hara in the Molynenx River at Parctai show that the deceased was one of a gang of four men engaged in constructing a groyne in the river near Mr Wm. Sutherland’s place, a few miles on the Balclntha. side of the South Molynenx punt. The deceased had gone out to the end of the _ groyne (which extended for some considerable distance into the river), when Mr A. M'Farlane, the contractor, and the other men heard a splash, and looking round saw O’Hara in the water. Ho came up once, and that was the last seen of him. The deceased was a son of Mr and Airs . John O’Hara, old settlers at Finegand. INJURED ABM. A fifteen-year-old schoolboy named Henry Mills was taken to the hospital at 4.45 yesterday afternoon with a broken arm, .caused while playing football at the Technical College grounds. The boy resides at 14 Clyde street.
