STRANGE!
After a dinner parly, when nil the guests were gathered in the drawing room, it was suggested that every woman should state the gift she most coveted. Promptly each woman announced her choice. Mrs Johnson wished for exquisite jewels, Mrs Williams desired to be the best dressed, woman in town, while Mrs Smith craved popularity. Suddenly, however, a tactless husband exclaimed: “1 say! Don’t any of you care for beauty?” She was saluted wi\li a cry of “ Miss Wilfcerforce for ever !” when sk pleasantly observed:' “I thank you, gentlemen, but I cannot agree with yen. for really I do not wish to bo ’Miss Wilborforce for ever!’ ”
“T shall never marry,” Beginaki do dared, “ until I meet, a woman who is my direct opposite.” “Well, Reggie,” said Mabel, “ there are a number of intelligent girls in this neighborhood.”
