ARTIFICIAL HUMIDITY

NEW METHOD OF OOHTROL At an exhibition' hold at Nottingham University recently,- there was shown a new form of humidity control which has been evolved by the British Research Association _ for the woollen and worsted industries, states ‘ The Electrician.’ The necessity for artificial humidity in various branches of textile manufacture is apparent to all, and has been customary for many years, but modern developments have necessitated some manner of control in order that variations in the wot and dry bulb readings of tlie hygrometer may bo reduced to a minimum. This control, which was shown at Nottingham, consists of a pivoted balance arm, at one end of which is a light wire cylinder covered with ’ a piece of flannel. A change in ■relative humidity causes the weight of the flannel to alter and the balance tjlts to one side or the other, and in so doing an electric circuit is completed, causing tho appropriate relay to bo operated.
