(Received July 21, at 11 a.m.) Iu the House of Commons the Colonial Secretary was asked whether, in view of the increase in the production of rubber outside the restriction area, and of the recent fall in the price of the commodity, ho was contemplating the withdrawal or a substantial modification of the restriction scheme in force. Mr L. S. If any change were to become necessary he would endeavor to give as long a notice as possible. With regard to any minor improvements in the working of the scheme which might be considered desirable in the light of experience, he would repeat, as ho had stated in February last, that so long as the conditions under which the present scheme was operating remained substantially the same, he did not propose to suggest any substantial modification of its provisions. He was not aware that any substantial change had taken place iu those conditions in the interval.
