WINTER ACTIVITIES Though tins is Hio “off” .season for yachting, the committee of the Otago Yacht Chib lias by no means forgotten the winter’s work. At present there arc about twouty-fivo yachts and launches on the club's slipways, while more than that number are remaining at their moorings throughout the winter. A start has been made with the painting of the sheds, and those that have been finished are at present looking very spick and span. The most necessary work, however, to the constant users of the boat harbor, is the dredging operation that is being carried out. During last season the shoaling of the mooring sites was a source of anxiety to boat owners, and launch owners wore often forced to give their craft a good run in order to hurdle a bank of mud. 'Next season, however, this practice will be unnecessary. Future winter activities will consist of two lectures by naval officers, and at least one social. j
