IN LEADIN6 POSITION “MISS NEW ZEALAND” POLL A very heavy vote was cast at the two crowded performances of the dominion Finalists at the Empire Theatre yesterday. Miss Dale Austen maintained her position at the head of the poll, with Miss Vera Hodge second. MORGIE CAMERON (Maid of Honor, Southland) The farewell appearance of the Finalists for the present season takes place to-night. All votes must ho In the ballot boxes hy 9.30 p.m., to enable the official auditors (Messrs Wm. Brown and Co.) to make the count in time to announce the results by the conclusion of to-night’s performance. ,The girls, accompanied by their chaperon, proceed to Invercargill by the 8.35 a.m. train to-morrow. Train arrangements not permitting the party to travel to Oafnaru from Invercargill on Friday, the 29th inst., they will return to Dunedin on Thursday next, the 28th inst., and give, two performances at the Empire Theatre on that date, afternoon and evening. This will positively be the last chance tho Dunedin public will have of seeing the Finalists and recording votes prior to their departure for the north. ' Tho party are the guests of Mrs Austen (mother of “Miss Otago ”) at a cabaret party this evening, at the Savoy, at the conclusion cf their performance. The Finalists desire to express their grateful thanks to the Dunedin public for their support, and for many kindnesses received during their stay.
