"HAS NO STYLE.” "Y'oung M.a;tyn, ’e ain't got no style!” The Lord Mayor (Alderman Mastyn) and others who welcomed the visiting Queensland Rugby League football team at a, civic reception, were surprised and embarrassed when Mr H. Sunderland, secretary of the Queensland Rugby League, concluded a short speech with the foregoing sentence. For a. moment there was an uncomfortable silence, though Mr Sunderland beamed happily, apparently unaware that he had committed an unforgivable faux pas. Then the visiting footballers sprang to their feet, and, with a. show of heartiness, sang an amusing retrain commencing “Young Mostvne, ’e ain’t got no style,” and ' concluding with “ He’s a style of ’is own all the while.” This incident was a feature of the civic reception, which was a most friendly and pleasant affair. The Lord Mayor promised, on behalf of the State and Commonwealth meteorologists, to provide fine weather for the match between New South Wales and Queensland, and said that he looked forward to Now South Wales defeating the visitors.
