A SUMPTUOUS HOME
MR AMBROSE HUDSON'S NEW RESIDENCE
The work on Mr Aiubnso Hudson’s palatial residence in Littlebourno ras almost been completed. The contract was undertaken by Mr James Fletcher, of the firm then known as Fletcher and Love, who supervised its erection. Since Mr Fletcher’s departure from Dunedin the work has been in the hands of the Love Construction Company, and the completed job will stand as a worthy monument to the thoroughness of the builders, as well as to the enterprise of the architect, Mr M'Dowell Smith. Without exaggeration it cun be claimed that Mr Hudson’s now residence is one of the most magnificent in the dominion Mr Hudson gave Mr Fletcher an open order to give of his best, and onlv an inspection of the place can reveal how well Mr Hudson’s instructions have been parried out. Besides all the latest labor-saving devices many new features have been incorporated, several of these having been the result of suggestions made by Mr Hudson himself. Although sumptuously fitted out, there is nothing .unduly ostentatious about it, everything being designed and executed in the most artistic manner. A- full description of this miniature palace would nil columns of the ‘ Evening Star,’ but it is hoped to publish here next week enough particular to at least justify the uso of such adjectives as “ sumptuous,” “ magnificent,” etc. A plan of the two floors and the basement will also be given, so that any of the ‘Star’s’ readers who feel so inclined can attempt to better it jrhen building their new home.
