AUCKLAND TROTS

CONCLUDING DAY TO-MORROW,

[Special 10 i'rz ‘Stab.’]

AUCKLAND, Juno 20. The Auckland Trotting Club’s Winter Meeting will conclude at Epsom on Wednesday, and at the time of wiring the weather is anything but promising. As was the case on Saturday, big fields are engaged in all the events, and the racing should be most interesting. The opening event is the Manukau Handicap, in which there will be a very big field. This class of race is invariably won from the limit, and this will probably happen on Wednesday. Reremai, who has only started once, and then won easily, is bound to go well, and another on the limit with a chance is Master Huia; also Daytime, who may go better than on Saturday. Of those further back Mars, Admiral Lock, and Loch Moigh should bo the best. The favorites may bo Reremai, Mars, and Daytime. The trotters in the Royal Handicap are practically the same as contested the Winter Handicap on Saturday. Appeal then won so easily that he is bound to command respect. Direct Action may bo tbo best of the limit brigade, but if Great Change goes away right he should take a deal of beating. Scan Triumhais, Normahal, and Tamerlane are all good sorts, and the summing .up may bo Great Change, Nourmahul, and Sean Triubhais. The chief event of the day, the Prmcc of Wales Handicap, will see a line field of classy pacers go to the post. The only one on the limit who will get solid support is Harold Thorpe, but there are a lot of useful horses on the 24yd? mark, and Machine Gun and Terence Dillon must go well. Lilly Sea, off the 12yds mark, _ may bring off a surprise, as ho is a good stayer and the going will be heavy. Cardinal Logan is bound to bo going on at the end, us also will Peter Bingen. It is a very open race, and the favorite selections may bo Harold Thorpe, Machine Gun, a rl llllmtt

Considerable interest will centre in t-hc Adams Memorial Gup, as ah owi eis will bo anxious to win the fine 100guinea Gold Cup which goes with the vinner’s portion of the stake. The field will bo a good one, and, with Great '’lari on the limit, there will bo no ’altering on the trip. Another on the rout end is Luvan, and if the track happened to bo fine slic_ would takonc end of beating, as she is a brilliant mare, but a long-striding one may not he suited with the track heavy. Roy Logan, Direct Wood, The Shrew, Marshal Neil, Florent, and Respect will all have admirers. It is a very open race, but backers will probably go for Great Earl. Luvan, and Direct Wood. The smallest field of the day will contast the Members’ Handicap, for trotters only. On the form shown on Saturday The Tartar should again ho in the money, while Sister Beatrice may move up a little, despite the possibility of their losing ground at the start. The selections may bo Elzear, Trampfast, and The Tartar. In the Liverpool Handicap many of the horses engaged will have raced earlier in the afternoon, and their showings then will affect the betting. Mars, Admiral Lock, and Reremai should carry most of the money. The concluding event is the An Rcvoir Handicap, and all the speed merchants are engaged. On the form shown in the mile on the first day Potor Bingen will bo made favorite.’ Cardinal Logan, if he misses tho big race, should go well. GOLF.
