RECOUNT OF TOHHAGE VOTES [Pas United Press Association.! WELLINGTON, June 20. ■ The recount for the Dairy _ Produce Export Control Board election is as follows; — WARD 3 (AUCKLAND). W. Goodfellow sii P. Lye 231 WARD 4 (TARANAKI). H. D. Forsyth ' ... 17 J. B. Hines ... 760 WARD 7 (NORTHERN SOUTH ISLAND). H. T. Chapman 127 J. B. Thacker 93 These are tonnage votes, and not suppliers’ votes. MR TIMPAHY INTERVIEWED ADVICE FOR THE DAIRYMEN. Interviewed at Invercargill by a representative of the ‘ Southland Times,’ Mr T. M. Timpany, referring to the recent decisions of the Dairy Control Board, said that the statements already made public showed what the board had done—that it had returned to freemarketing, The discussion on these matters had been taken in committee, and in the circumstances he could not say anything at this stage touching on that part of the meeting. The result of the elections had shown conclusively that the suppliers were absolutely in favor of the board functioning along the lines indicated by the j resolution to return to free marketing. ! These results were really a continuation and an endorsement of the Feeling which had been manifested in Southland when ho (Mr Timpany) was elected. “ There is no need for anyone to be panicky,” said Mr Timpany, “about the prospects for the coming ;eason.” As a matter of fact, everyhing pointed to the possibility of a highly competitive market, and the dairy farmer would be well advised to adopt the policy of “wait and see.” The board was now going to function along the lines originally It'd down for : t, and in the future would fully justify its existence. 1 Big problems of advertising, shipping, insurance, auditing, and other matters would now receive die consideration they warrant. Any extreme element who in the past had l 'ed them away had now not got its own way, and should apply itself to harmoniously working for the proper treatment of the'e problems. The position to-day was that the board should have the united hacking of all sections of the industry, and thereby fulfil the requirements the producer expected when Parliament granted the legislation at the dairymen’s request.”
