CHINESE DROWNED
FERRY BOAT TRAGEDY Pres* Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SHANGHAI, June 14. (Received June 15, at 9.10 a.m.) Five hundred Chinese were drowned at Swatow (a southern seaport) when a ferry steamer crossing the harbor capsized owing to the passengers crowding to one side as the stcamci swung on the strong tide to recover a small package which had dropped overboard. The majority of the bodies weie iccovered.
